The "Castilla" console is named after both the land it is rooted in and the workshop behind its creation. Castile is a territory marked by two defining elements: its clay soil and its winds, both evoked in the mythical stories of Don Quixote.

The form of the piece, inspired by the raised-hands gesture also found in the "Yay" lamp, transforms an expression of exaltation and joy into a grounded, material presence.

A total of 36 layers of fine soil from the Castile region are compacted, consolidated, sanded, and reapplied, resulting in a dense, richly textured construction. The base of the console and the handles of its drawers are crafted in golden brass, symbolizing both its connection to the earth it stands on—a central part of its ethos—and its relationship to the user, which is the ultimate aim of all design.

The console is at once solidly rooted and metaphorically moved by the Castilian wind. It seeks to be both grounded and profoundly stable, yet it also embodies playfulness, lightness, serenity... The tip of the fingers resemble also a castle serrated fortress. The vulnerability of the being is shield by the protection of the architecture and its forms...

As a final, more intimate gesture, the drawers are lined with black lacquer, rejecting ties to soil, landscape, or humanity. In this absence, context dissolves into meditation and abstraction. The pairing of black lacquer and gold, often found in temples and shrines, evokes spaces dedicated to the immaterial. Here it becomes a reminder of the fleeting nature of our material presence and the impermanence of the circumstances in which we live.
